Sclerotherapy

Medical treatment for spider veins and small varicose veins.

Downtime
Compression stockings for about 2 weeks

Sclerotherapy treats unwanted spider veins and small varicose veins. A solution is injected into the vein, causing it to close. Blood reroutes through healthier veins and the treated vessel is gradually reabsorbed and fades.

As with all our treatments, it begins with a medical assessment to make sure it is the right option for you.

Questions

Frequently asked

Have a question that isn’t answered here? Call us on 03 9807 0022.

How does it work?

A solution is injected directly into the vein, causing it to close. The body then reabsorbs the vein and it fades over time.

What will I feel?

Most people feel very little. Some injections may feel like a mosquito bite, with brief stinging.

What can I expect afterwards?

You can walk around soon after, and walking is encouraged. Compression stockings or bandages are usually worn for about two weeks.
