Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Using your body’s own platelets to support skin renewal.
- Downtime
- Possible swelling, 3–5 days
Platelet-rich plasma has long been used in other fields of medicine, such as sports medicine, to support healing. In cosmetic medicine, PRP uses your own natural healing cells to stimulate skin rejuvenation.
A small amount of your blood is collected and processed to prepare the PRP, which is then injected into the treatment areas with a very fine needle. The procedure is performed under topical anaesthetic in sterile conditions.
How does it work?
Blood is drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. After local anaesthetic, a small amount is injected into the treatment area.
What can I expect afterwards?
PRP triggers a natural healing response, so the treated area may be swollen and tender for around three to five days.
